THE Disney announced that he will replace the band Aerosmith as the protagonist of the roller coaster Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster . The characters of the franchise Muppets will take the place of the quintet.
Despite the change, rock will continue as the main theme of the attraction, located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort, in Orlando.
According to the company, characters like Miss Piggy and Kermit the Frog among others, “will join some of music’s biggest stars for a rock festival.”
Yet there is no set date for replacement. In a post on the parks’ official blog, the company only reported that “there is still time to take a super limousine to the Forum to enjoy the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster with the band Aerosmith”.
What’s new in the park
The announcement is part of the news at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for the near future. The Muppet*Vision 3D attraction will cease to exist and make way for a new area called Monstropolis based on the franchise of Monsters Inc. with construction expected to begin in 2025.
The new thematic area will be the home to the first suspended roller coaster at any Disney park in which visitors will be able to walk through the safe doors of the Monsters, Inc. factory
For 2025, new shows have already been confirmed at the park, such as “Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After” starring Disney villains, including Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent; and a musical of “The Little Mermaid” called “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” .
The additions are part of an “unprecedented expansion” in the company’s parks and resorts, as defined by Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Experiences.
In August this year, during the D23 event in California, D’Amaro revealed a cycle of projects valued at US$60 billion (around R$365.3 billion, in current conversion), which includes expansions in the parks, new shows, stops, restaurants and the jump to 13 ships in the cruise line by 2031.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Opened in July 1999, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is a launch roller coaster indoor that drives adventurers to 92 km/h in just 2.8 seconds . Along the way, the cart goes through three inversions.
Currently, the attraction’s narrative is based on an invitation: in Aerosmith’s fictional studio, visitors are invited to enjoy a band show. To get around Los Angeles traffic, individuals must get into a limousine, which travels at high speed through the city’s avenues to the music of the quintet.
The roller coaster was manufactured by Vekoma, the same company that will build the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Latin America, promised to open at Cacau Park in 2027.
