Aesthetic clinic is closed in the west zone of RJ due to irregularities

An aesthetics clinic was closed by Procon, in Realengo, in the west zone of Rio de Janeiro, for not having a health license or operating license. The owner of the establishment was taken to the police station to provide clarification.

At the scene, agents found several products that were expired or did not have a specified expiration/last handling date. Reducing creams, hyaluronic acid and enzyme diluters were discarded.

In the action, which had the support of the Realengo Police Station (33rd DP), a machine with a UV lamp was also found at the location. As it poses a risk to consumer health, the equipment was banned as a precautionary measure until its regularity was proven, under penalty of the crime of disobedience. A resolution from the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) prohibits “across the entire national territory the import, receipt of donations, rental, sale and use of equipment for artificial tanning, for aesthetic purposes.

Procon-RJ has been regularly carrying out inspections of aesthetic clinics to determine whether they have ideal sanitary conditions for operation, valid legal authorizations, qualified professionals and products within their expiration date. According to the president of the municipality, Cássio Coelho, this work is preventive so that there is no damage to health or fatalities.

“Companies and professionals need to be registered with the competent bodies and qualified to carry out these types of procedures. It is important that consumers request proof of all these authorizations and research the clinic's reputation among other consumers and their respective professional councils,” he explained.
