Afghanistan: Taliban Demonstrate Seized Afghan Army Helicopters in Kandahar

The Taliban, located outside Kabul, released a video showing US military helicopters at the airport in Kandahar (south), a city they captured on Friday.

In one of the videos posted yesterday, a fighter is seen walking around a Black Hawk military helicopter in the colors of his air force Afghanistan, in a hangar at the airport of Afghanistan ‘s second largest city.

Then, the fighter leaves the hangar and one can see in the distance in the runway a second helicopter of the same type.

Then, as the fighter returns to the hangar, two Russian military helicopters are spotted and someone is heard saying “This is the will of Allah!”.

The French agency could not confirm whether these helicopters could be operational soon. The Black Hawk windshield is covered with a black cover and the helicopter does not seem to have a left engine.

The propellers are missing from the two Russian military helicopters, which are located near the hangar and one of them is covered with a black cover.

One of the fighters is heard to say that five helicopters and various jets are at Kandahar airport.

AFP could not immediately confirm the exact number of military aircraft at the airport.

Experts doubt the usefulness of the Taliban taking control of these helicopters and aircraft, as they do not have enough personnel to repair and pilot them.

In other videos from Afghan cities captured by the Taliban, fighters pose holding weapons seized by Afghan forces or patrolling vehicles belonging to Afghan special forces.
