“When we received the information that the hospital (…) was under attack, Molvi Hamdoula, the commander of the corps (Taliban military force) in Kabul, immediately rushed to the scene,” a Taliban spokesman explained. «We tried to stop him, but he laughed. “Later, we learned that he was killed in the fighting in the hospital,” he added.

At least 19 people were killed and 50 others injured yesterday in an attack on Sardar Mohammad Daoud Khan, the country’s largest military hospital, claimed by the Islamic State in Khorasan (IKH), the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). the ΑΠΕ-ΜΠΕ.

Eyewitnesses described horror scenes at the AFP, with staff and patients trying to lock themselves in rooms and wards on higher floors to escape the attackers.
Since taking power in mid-August, the Taliban, who say restoring security in Afghanistan is a priority after 20 years of war, has faced a wave of bloody attacks by the IKH, also a Sunni but even more extremist organization. The IKH has been targeting both Taliban fighters and members of Afghanistan’s Shiite minority in recent weeks.
