The US embassy in Kabul today issued a security warning that the security situation in its capital Afghanistan It is changing rapidly, including at the airport, where there have been reports of shootings as US troops help evacuate most US personnel.

“There are reports that the airport is on fire, so we are instructing American citizens to seek refuge where they are,” the embassy said in a statement.
The Taliban also took control of the presidential palace in Afghanistan, two senior Taliban commanders based in Kabul said today. President Asfar Ghani left the country.
There is no confirmation from the Afghan government regarding the Taliban claim.
Communication with government officials was not immediately possible.
