The US “will not be intimidated” by today terrorist attacks in the Afghanistan at least 12 U.S. soldiers were killed in the attacks, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said.
“I extend my deepest condolences to the loved ones and colleagues of all those killed and injured in Kabul today,” Austin said in a statement. “We will not be discouraged by the mission we have undertaken,” he added.
Two-thirds of Americans seeking to leave Afghanistan plan to leave
The State Department announced today that it is in contact with about 1,000 Americans who remain in Afghanistan and more than two-thirds of them have told the US State Department that they are planning to leave the country.
“We believe that many, if not most, of these individuals are almost or already out of the country,” a State Department spokesman said in a statement.
“And we know that dozens of others do not want to leave Afghanistan for various reasons.”
