The Justice of São Paulo sentenced, this Friday (24), a driver accused of driving drunk at 123 km/h in the capital of São Paulo, and causing a crash that left one dead. The episode, however, took place 10 years ago, in September 2011.
After being taken to a popular jury, the driver Felipe de Lorena was sentenced by Judge Fernanda Salvador Veiga to 12 years in prison in a closed regime, and one year, nine months and 18 days in detention in a semi-open regime.
However, he can appeal the sentence in freedom, because “he is responding to the loose process and because any of the requirements that authorize precautionary detention do not exist”, said the judge.
According to the decision, on September 30, 2011, Felipe caused an accident on Avenida Inajar de Souza, in São Paulo.
He collided with another vehicle, which, due to the collision, caught fire. The driver of the vehicle hit, Edson Roberto Domingues, died from burns.
THE CNN tries to contact Felipe’s defense.
