After being closed for 18 days due to the floods, the Praia de Belas shopping mall, in Porto Alegre, reopened its doors last Wednesday (22), but had to interrupt operations again due to new flooding in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul. .
In a statement made via social media this Thursday (22), the project's management stated that the mall would be closed from noon today.
According to the company, the decision was made “due to weather conditions that affect circulation and mobility in Porto Alegre, compromising accessibility to the Praia de Belas region”.
The statement did not provide an estimated date for reopening.
Previously, the mall had been closed on May 4th. On Tuesday (21), the project's management announced the reopening for the following day. “We have reopened our doors to help usher in new beginnings,” he wrote on Instagram.
Last Saturday (18), animals that were inside a pet shop inside the mall drowned. The company says it made “constant attempts to access the site” to carry out the rescue, but that the entrance was not safe due to the water level.
Increase in water level

Loss stated that the department's teams continue working to restore the functioning of the pump houses that serve the Menino Deus and Cidade Baixa neighborhoods.
The city hall reported that the Rainwater Pumping Station (Ebap) 12 “is operating at reduced capacity, which is causing water to accumulate in the Menino Deus region”.
Still according to the city hall, until noon today, the Belém Novo rain gauge station received, in 12 hours, an accumulated 96.6 millimeters of water.
In five hours, the level of Lake Guaíba – which was on a downward trajectory – rose from 3.82 meters to 3.96 at 5am this Thursday. The flood level is 3 meters, while the warning level is 2.5 meters.
