Brazilian factories reached the end of this year with optimism on the rise, according to the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
The Industrial Entrepreneur Confidence Index (Icei) improved in December and reached 56.7 points, against 56.0 points last month.
According to the methodology used by CNI, values above the 50-point dividing line represent confidence.
The improvement in the indicator broke a sequence of negative three months, when the Icei accumulated a drop of 7.2 points between September and November.
In comparison with December of last year, however, the Icei still registers a 6.4 point retreat.
“This reveals that trust is now less widespread and intense than at the end of 2020”, highlighted the CNI.
All components of Icei have improved this month. The Current Conditions Index advanced 0.3 points and was exactly on the 50-point line, leaving negative territory for a neutral perception of the current economic situation in relation to the previous six months.
The Expectations Index increased 1.0 point, reaching 60.1 points, revealing strong optimism for the six months ahead.
