After 3 months of deflation, IPCA rose 0.59% in October, says IBGE

After three consecutive months of deflation, the IPCA (Broad Consumer Price Index) – which measures the country’s official inflation -, increased by 0.59% in October, informed the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) this Thursday. thursday (10).

As a result, accumulated inflation for the year reached 4.7%. In the last 12 months, the indicator stood at 6.47%, according to the institute. In October 2021, the rate had been 1.25%.

The clothing group had the most intense increase, 1.22%, but the greatest influence on the general index came from food and beverages, with growth of 0.72% and an impact of 0.16 percentage point on the general index. Following the main influences are the groups of health and personal care (1.16%) and transport (0.58%)

Among the nine groups of products and services surveyed, eight had high in the month. Only Communication had a drop of 0.48%.

Potatoes and tomatoes have high

The rise in food was driven by food at home (0.8%), with an increase of 23.36% for potatoes and 17.63% for tomatoes. The group also recorded increases in onions (9.31%) and fruits (3.56%).

Among the falls, the highlight was long-life milk (-6.32%), which had already dropped 13.71% in September, and soybean oil (-2.85%), which marked the fifth consecutive fall, according to the IBGE. In terms of food away from home, which grew 0.49%, snacks decelerated from 0.74% in September to 0.3% in October, while meals followed the opposite path, from 0.34% in September to 0. 61% in October.

Gasoline, diesel and vehicular gas fall

In transport, which went from a fall of 1.98% in September to a rise of 0.58% in October, Pedro Kislanov, research manager, points out that in addition to the 27.38% increase in airfare, the 1.27% drop in fuel prices was also important, less intense than in the previous month, when the drop was of 8.50%.

Gasoline (-1.56%), diesel oil (-2.19%) and vehicular gas (-1.21%) followed a downward trend, but ethanol registered a high of 1.34%.

There was also a decline in transport prices per application (-3.13%), which had risen 6.14% in September. The sub-item urban bus continued to fall, 0.23%, reflecting the reduction in ticket prices on Sundays in Salvador (-2.99%), valid since September 11th.

Men’s and women’s clothing up more than 1%

In the clothing group, the influence in October was the rise in the prices of men’s clothing (1.7%) and women’s clothing (1.19%). “This increase has happened since the resumption of isolation”, said Kislanov, noting that, in the last 12 months, the accumulated variation of the sector was 18.48%, the highest among the nine groups that make up the IPCA.

All regions register increase in October

In the analysis by region, all areas increased in October, with Recife (0.95%) registering the greatest change due to increases in electricity (9.66%) and airline tickets (47.37%). On the other hand, the lowest index was registered in Curitiba (0.2%), influenced by the declines in the prices of electricity (-9.88%) and gasoline (-2.40%).

INPC has a rise of 0.47% in October

The National Consumer Price Index (INPC) rose 0.47% in October, according to the IBGE. In the year, the indicator accumulates 4.81% and, in the last 12 months, 6.46%. In October last year, the rate was 1.16%.

Food products changed from a fall of 0.51% in September to a rise of 0.60% in October, accompanied by the prices of non-food products, which changed from a decline of 0.26% in September to a rise of 0.43% in October.
