After 3 months of war, cost of living has increased in Russia, says Brazilian in Kursk

The student Letícia Vitória Alves, who is in the 5th year at the University of Kursk, in Russia, said that the cost of living in the country increased a lot during the 3 months of war with Ukraine.

“It is noticeable that there was an increase in the price of basic products, such as sugar. Foreign products had an increase of more than 50%”, he told CNN Radio .

At the same time, she said that there were no problems in terms of supply: “There was a plan for anyone to be left without product replacement.”

The climate, according to the student’s report, is that of a normal life. “The wave of fear I had at the beginning, I don’t see it anymore. There are still conflicts on the border, but only there. I live downtown and there is nothing, we just listen to the planes that go by every day.”

Leticia stressed that her Russian friends do not mention war, they only speak of “conflict between Russia and Ukraine” and that there are those who argue that Putin seeks to protect Russian territory.
