After a strong hangover, Rio City Hall employees remove sand from the beach avenue in Leblon

Employees of the Municipal Urban Cleaning Company (Comlurb), an urban cleaning company in Rio de Janeiro, are working this Monday (6) to remove sand from Avenida Delfim Moreira, on the beach in the Leblon neighborhood, brought by the surf that hit the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) asked drivers to look for alternative routes while Comlurb teams clean the road. The leisure area is also closed for cleaning.

On Sunday, the effects of a cyclone that was offshore shook the coast and caused a storm surge that caused sea water to advance over the coast and Avenida Delfim Moreira.

On social media, images of bathers enjoying the beach went viral. The phenomenon scared even those who were on the sidewalk and bike path.

Firefighters search for teenager who disappeared at sea

This Monday, the Fire Department resumed the search for the 16-year-old teenager who disappeared in the sea off Ipanema beach, a neighborhood neighboring Leblon. He was taking part in a trip to the coast of Rio.
