Taylor Swift will perform a new set of shows on “The Eras Tour” in 2024. The singer resumes performances on the world tour – which celebrates her 10 already released albums – this Wednesday (7) in Tokyo, Japan, for the first of four shows in the Japanese capital.
The resumption of “The Eras Tour” comes after a two-month break for the singer. Their last shows of the tour were held in Brazil on the 17th, 19th and 20th at the Nilton Santos Stadium, Rio de Janeiro, and the 24th, 25th and 26th of November at Allianz Parque, in São Paulo.
Taylor Swift will return to performing on the tour throughout the year, as well as in 2023. This time, the singer will visit countries in Asia, Europe, the United States, Canada, as well as Australia. So far, “The Eras Tour” ends in December, during the artist’s visit to Canada. The complete program is recorded in the singer's official website.
“The Eras Tour” will have its second opening in Tokyo, Japan, where Taylor will perform on the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th.
The star's current tour seeks to cover the hits contained in his ten already released albums – “Taylor Swift”, “Fearless”, “Speak Now”, “Red”, “1989”, “Reputation”, “Lover”, “Folklore” , “Evermore” and “Midnights” – between 2006 and 2022. Each of them represents an “era”, to which the singer brings characteristic elements and performances.
In 2023, Taylor Swift was responsible for reaching the highest-grossing tour milestone in history.
“The Eras Tour” became the first tour to exceed US$1 billion in revenue in history, according to Guinness World Records in December 2023.
Taylor Swift broke the record set by Elton John's five-year farewell tour, which ended in early 2023, grossing US$939 million (about R$4.56 billion) from 328 shows. The blonde, in turn, raised US$1.04 billion (around R$5.16 billion), from March to November, after 151 shows.
The artist also moved the United States economy to the point of being cited by the country's central bank. In Brazil, it shook the Brazilian market in November, the month in which the services sector showed its first advance after three months of decline.
Super Bowl after show?
Girlfriend of player Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift's first shows in 2024 could impact the artist's presence at the Super Bowl, the final of the NFL (American football league) championship, to honor the beloved Kansas City Chiefs team. The singer is present at almost every Kansas City Chiefs game.
The Super Bowl takes place on the 11th in Las Vegas, in the United States. Reporter Harry Enten, from CNN, calculated whether Taylor Swift would be able to make it in time to watch Travis Kelce play in the Super Bowl. The singer has the time zone in her favor, as Tokyo is 17 hours ahead of Las Vegas.
Therefore, according to the journalist, Taylor Swift's last show in the capital ends at what would be 5:00 am in Las Vegas, on February 10th. It would take the artist an average of 11 hours to fly from one place to another. Even though it takes a few hours to leave the country, she still arrives in time for the game, which only takes place at 3:30 pm (8:30 pm, Brasília time) on the 11th.
New album
During her acceptance speech for the “Best Pop Vocal Album” award at the Grammys, which took place on Sunday, February 4, Taylor Swift announced “The Tortured Poets Department”, her 11th studio album.
The new album arrives on April 19th. Doubts remain among fans as to whether Taylor will bring new songs to the tour – and how she will do so.
