THE Critics’ Choice Awards considered one of the main Oscar Thermometers holds this Friday (7) its 30th edition. Initially expected to occur a few weeks after the 2025 Golden Globe, the award had to be postponed due to the Los Angeles fires.

What is Critics’ Choice Awards?
Created in 1995 by Critics Choice Association (CCA), the largest critical entity in the United States and Canada, the Choice Awards Critics has consolidated itself as one of the most influential awards of the awards season serving as a reference for the Oscar by highlighting possible favorites.

Who votes for Critics’ Choice Awards?
Today, according to Joey Berlin CEO of the CCA, the awards are determined by 576 members . There are another 100 non -voting members. “It is a remarkably diverse and inclusive group that qualifies to vote by reaching a large audience regularly with its coverage of new films and/or television,” he said in an interview with Variety magazine.
According to the official website, to vote, it is necessary to meet specific requirements to join the association, including the fact that all members must be “film critics or TV journalists, whose coverage of a wide range of films shown in theaters or transmitted is regularly available to a large audience ”.
There are Brazilian critics who also vote for the prize, such as Waldemar Dalenoge, Fabiana Lima , Cleide Klock and others.
In Brazil, Critics Choice Awards will be transmitted by TNT and by Max On February 7, at 21h. The ceremony will be presented by comedian Chelsea Handler.
