Eric Trump asked this Sunday (21) that the director of the United States Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, resign, after the assassination attempt that Donald Trump suffered last week.
Cheatle faces a number of questions about how a gunman managed to get a clear line of sight on the former president during the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“The director of the Secret Service should resign in absolute disgrace,” Eric Trump told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo.
“The fact that the Biden administration could allow a former president, and very likely a future president, to get shot in the ear and have no accountability and a person continue to do his job just shows how shameful and inept the administration is,” he said.
Director to be heard by Congress
Cheatle will face US Congress in hearings into the attack this week.
She said the Secret Service was “solely responsible” for security at the rally and that both internal and external reviews were ongoing.
A CNN previously reported that Trump’s security team had complained that it was not receiving enough resources and agents from the Secret Service over the past two years. The agency acknowledged Saturday (20) that it had denied some requests.
A Secret Service spokesperson said in a statement that the agency has not provided certain capabilities in the past but has instead provided other security measures, including from local partners.
