After an unsuccessful attempt at a coup d’état, the president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, was impeached this Wednesday (07).
Hours before a vacancy motion (the equivalent of an impeachment process) was voted against him, Castillo dissolved the legislative and judicial powers, called elections for a constituent assembly, and declared a state of exception, which included a curfew.
The Peruvian Congress, which has an opposition majority, continued working and voted to impeach him.
