The works for widening the sand strip of Praia dos Ingleses, in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, began last Sunday (29).
The process has already been carried out in the city of Balneário Camboriú, and has presented challenges due to the unevenness that appeared in the sand after an undertow.
The dredging work has started in the south corner of Praia dos Ingleses and is being carried out by the company DTA Engenharia. The investment will be R$18.8 million and the forecast is that the work will be delivered in early March.
Some points on the beach currently have 20 meters of sand, and should reach 45 meters in length after the widening works. The works must be done in a stretch of about 3 kilometers.
To ensure the safety of the population, at least 150 meters will be isolated from the pumping points of the vessel responsible for the dredging. Navigation will be restricted during the entire period of dredging and the City Hall reinforces the notice of attention to the signage at the site.
