After buying Bethesda, Microsoft is eyeing Konami and Sega

The main news of the past week, perhaps, was the accomplished joining of ZeniMax Media and Bethesda to the Xbox team. Now the public on the net has been stirred up by the message about the next possible acquisition of Microsoft.

After buying Bethesda, Microsoft is eyeing Konami and Sega

We are talking about the takeover of such legendary Japanese companies as Konami and Sega. Regarding Sega, it can be noted that the company has been associated with Microsoft for decades and rumors of a possible takeover have been circulating for a long time. Konami could prove to be a valuable asset, too, with popular games like Silent Hill and Metal Gear.

Microsoft’s weak position in the Japanese market is cited as a justification for Microsoft’s possible plans. Microsoft traditionally loses to Sony in Japan. In the last week of February, for example, 1508 Xbox Series X and S consoles were sold in Japan, as well as just 10 Xbox One consoles. For comparison, in the same week the Japanese bought 33 792 Sony PS5 and 78 134 Nintendo Switch consoles. Of course, Konami and Sega will not be able to make Xbox the first console brand in Japan, but they would help strengthen Microsoft’s position.
