In Campania – the first region to establish such a figure in the public health system – the basic psychologist will be, like the general practitioner and the pediatrician, of free choice for families. In the health districts of the ASL the Basic Psychology Service in support of people’s difficulties, which worsened during the two-year pandemic. The sessions will be supervised by self-employed psychologists affiliated with each ASL to “support and integrate the action of general practitioners and pediatricians and reduce the growing burden of psychological disorders in the population, intercept the psychological well-being needs that often remain unexpressed by the population, intercepting and managing the behavioral and emotional problems deriving from the Covid 19 pandemic ». On the table 600 thousand euros for the two-year period 2020-2021 which will therefore be effectively used in 2021-2022.
And while the solution of the psychologist bonus (we talked about it by interviewing the proponent, the deputy Pd Filippo Sensi), also the Regional Council of Lombardy just presented a bipartisan bill (first signatories Simona Tironi of Forza Italia and Niccolò Carretta of Action) which provides for the institution of the basic psychologist. The process in the health committee will start in the coming weeks, the final vote in the classroom is scheduled for next autumn.
In the Lombard case this support figure will be present in the community housesthe new territorial health units introduced by last year’s health reform: for the three-year period 2023-2025, a financial endowment is foreseen that should be around 12 million euros. “Our goal is that the text, after the hearings in the Commission and the subsequent approval, arrive in the classroom of the regional council as early as November, also because the financial coverage is for the years 2023-25 ​​- explains the councilor Simona Tironi – there are still many preconceptions in dealing with psychological problems that have instead increased in the last two years “. Carretta echoes her: “This cannot and must not be a battle with a political color and the greater sensitivity to the issue also derives from the pandemic: I do not know a family that, especially in the acute phase, did not have severe discomfort or stress, closed at home, hearing only the sound of ambulance sirens outside the window of our apartments ».
