After collapse, Osasco Plaza Shopping is completely banned and license revoked

The mayor of Osasco, Rogério Lins (Podemos), said, this Wednesday (8), that Osasco Plaza Shopping was completely banned and its permit was revoked, after part of the roof of the building collapsed.

“Shopping totally banned, license revoked! Civil Defense, GCM [Guarda Civil Municipal]samu [Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência]CREA-SP [Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia de São Paulo]Scientific Police, Fire Department, Civil Police and Military Police followed every step”, wrote Lins on his social networks.

According to the head of the local Executive, an integral technical report of the entire structure of the building was required. At least three cars fell to the inside. No casualties were reported.

In a note, the venture said that the ban was to ensure the safety of employees and customers. “Management remains committed to identifying the causes of the incident and providing the necessary support to shopkeepers and regulars to restore normalcy as quickly as possible.”

Firefighters say they were called around 2:30 pm to respond to an incident at the mall, located on Rua Tenente Avelar Pires de Azevedo.

The collapse of the roof, according to the corporation, mainly hit vehicles that were parked at the site.

In a note, the Civil Police, through the 5th Police District of Osasco, stated that part of the shopping mall, between the cinema and a store, collapsed. “Preliminarily, there is no information on victims and the area has been evacuated”, says the folder.

Still according to police clearance, at least three vehicles fell when the floor gave way. “A crack was heard before the fall and they immediately isolated the place, which is why apparently there are no victims of injury”, says the note.

In addition to the Fire Brigade team, agents from the Civil Police, the Military Police and the Municipal Guard went to the scene. The report seeks contact with the mall.

Videos circulating on social media show the roof collapsing inside the mall, near the food court. Through the reproduction of one of them, it is possible to see men passing through the corridor moments before the collapse.

Explosion in 1996

This same mall suffered an explosion in 1996 due to a gas leak. The accident caused the death of more than 40 people.
