After complaints to Guimarães, Daniella Marques should be the new president of Caixa

The government decided to appoint a woman to replace Pedro Guimarães in the presidency of Caixa Econômica Federal, who leaves the post after a series of accusations of sexual harassment. It will be Daniella Marques, who since February has commanded the Secretariat of Productivity and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy —she
is one of the closest people to minister Paulo Guedes.

Guimarães is being investigated by the Federal Public Ministry of the Federal District. The case was revealed by the Metrópoles portal this Tuesday (28).

Caixa employees denounced Pedro Guimarães in testimonies given to the website. The interviews were given on condition of anonymity to preserve the identity of those involved. In interviews given to the site, bank employees narrate unauthorized intimate touches, invitations incompatible with their work situation and other forms of harassment by Guimarães.

After the case was revealed, the bank decided to cancel the Plano Safra press conference, which was scheduled to take place this Wednesday afternoon (29).

In a note to “Metrópoles”, Caixa informed that “it is not aware of the complaints presented by the vehicle”. “Caixa clarifies that it adopts measures to eliminate conduct related to any type of harassment. The bank has a solid integrity system, anchored in compliance with the various prevention protocols, the Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct, which prohibit the practice of ‘any type of harassment, through verbal or physical conduct of humiliation, coercion or threat’. ”, says part of the document.

“A whole life guided by ethics”, says Guimarães

During an event this Wednesday (29), the president of Federal Savings Bank, Pedro Guimarães, stated that he has a “whole life guided by ethics”. During his speech, he thanked his wife, Manuella Pinheiro Guimarães, for being there.

“I want to thank you all for being here, my wife. I think, in a very clear way, it’s been almost 20 years together, two children and a whole life guided by ethics. So much so that when I took over the bank, it had the worst ratings of state-owned companies, 10 years with a qualified balance sheet, a series of issues that you all know, and today we are an example,” she said.
