After criticism, Elon Musk wants to assemble a team to create a “rival” of ChatGPT, says portal

Elon Musk is embroiled in yet another controversy.

It may seem that there is nothing new in this statement, but after the ups and downs with Tesla and the twitter the situation now involves the latest fad of the “tech” world.

In recent days, the billionaire has sought artificial intelligence specialists to set up his own research laboratory and face the ChatGPT by OpenAI . The information is from the Information website.

According to the newspaper, the head of Tesla and Twitter wants to recruit Igor Babuschkin, one of the big names in the market who left Alphabet’s DeepMind AI unit, owner of the Google .

Musk and Babuschkin discussed assembling a team, but the project is still in the early stages, with no concrete plans to develop specific products, the report said, citing an interview with Babuschkin.

The researcher also added that he did not officially join the initiative with Musk.

The launch of ChatGPT in December 2022 delighted the public and gave rise to a global race by “Big Techs” to expand efforts and advances around artificial intelligence.

Recently, Google and Microsoft tried to launch tools with technology, but still without advances comparable to those of OpenAI.

Musk x OpenAI

Musk founded OpenAI with Sam Altman in 2015, but left the company in 2018 because he disagreed with the direction it was taking. However, despite having already said that the chat was “frighteningly good”, he has not spared criticism of the tool.

Basically, ChatGPT is a text chat powered by artificial intelligence, which answers any question asked by the user, from “How was the universe created?” to “How many countries are there in the world?”.

And a plethora of questions, requires a plethora of answers – which may not please everyone.

According to the Information, Musk says that the chat is trained to be “woke”. The word in English is generally used to describe those who are socially aware of issues such as racism, sexism, homophobia, among other types of struggles and causes.

Musk, who says he is a defender of free speech, is supported by a legion of conservatives who point out that generative artificial intelligence tools have used moderation filters that prevent her, for example, from telling jokes about women and drag queens.

Experts, however, say the filters are necessary to mitigate the perpetration of hate speech and language against minorities.

In addition to the issue of “ethical filters”, the billionaire frequently confronts OpenAI’s deviation from its initial non-profit proposal, which led to it being controlled by Microsoft.

In a recent tweet, he stated, “OpenAI was started as an open source company (that’s why I called it ‘Open’ AI), a non-profit company to serve as a counterweight to Google, but has now become a closed source, maximum profit company effectively controlled by Microsoft. It’s not what I intended.”

In late January, Microsoft and OpenAI announced a mutually beneficial “partnership extension” with exchanges on services such as cloud storage and AI language models.

Microsoft had already made investments in the company in 2019 and 2021.
