The Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp) released a note this Thursday morning (25) in which it states that “in the defense of the Democratic State of Law made by Fiesp and other entities, the defense of of all its pillars, which includes freedom of expression and opinion and a free press”. He also states that “these are non-negotiable values”.
The position is a reaction to criticism that the entity has been suffering for not having positioned itself on the Federal Police operation against businessmen who support President Jair Bolsonaro.
Requested by the PF and authorized by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the operation was triggered after the Metropoles portal revealed that businessmen dealt with the possibility of a coup d’état.
Since then, business entities began to criticize Fiesp for not having positioned itself in favor of businessmen, but for having released a letter for democracy in acts at the USP Law School on August 11th.
