After eight years, Cameron Diaz returns to acting career in Netflix movie

After an eight-year hiatus, Cameron Diaz is making movies again.

Diaz, who officially confirmed his retirement from Hollywood in 2018, is set to star in the new Netflix movie “Back in Action” alongside Jamie Foxx. The two previously starred together in 2014’s “Annie,” Diaz’s final film appearance.

“(Jamie Foxx) only you could get me back in action,” the actress wrote on Instagram after the announcement. “I can’t wait, it’s going to be awesome!”

Netflix has yet to set a release date for the film, but Foxx said production should begin later this year. On social media, the actor posted a recording of a phone conversation with Diaz about his return.

“I feel excited, but I don’t know how to do it, you know?” Diaz said. Foxx then brought in Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady on the call. Brady – who has won seven Super Bowls – retired earlier this year but announced his return a few weeks later.

“I was talking to Jamie and he said you need some tips on how to unretire. I’m relatively successful at retiring,” Brady joked.

While not active in Hollywood in recent years, Diaz has remained busy launching an organic wine label. Last year, the actress claimed that as a mother, she could no longer imagine herself on a movie set 16 hours a day.

“Am I going to make a movie again? I don’t want to, but will I? I don’t know. I have no idea. Perhaps. Never say never,” she said at the time.

Diaz married Good Charlotte singer Benji Madden in 2015, and the two have a son together, Raddix, born in 2020.c
