Capela (SE) city hall, around 80 kilometers from Aracaju, declared an emergency situation after the city was hit by heavy rain throughout the week. The decree was published last Thursday (16) and is valid for 120 days.
“This measure is essential not only to speed up the necessary repairs, but also so that they can seek, from the state government and the federal government, the essential resources for the reconstruction and release of the SE-438 highway,” said Mayor Carlos Milton Mendonça Tourinho Júnior.
The highway mentioned by the mayor gave way and killed three people in the early hours of last Sunday (12). Two women and a man from the same family were found dead.
Last Monday (13), it was announced that the highway would be replaced by a bridge.
