After hot July, milder weather arrives in the Southeast; see forecast for other regions

THE Southeast region do Brasil should register a milder climate in August, after July has had record temperatures for the month since 1943, the beginning of the historical series.

A cold front expected to arrive this Wednesday (1st) in the South should lower the temperature in the capital of São Paulo on Thursday (2nd).

“We shouldn’t have a hot or extremely rainy August, as the average rainfall for this month is low. But, compared to July, we will have more episodes with rain, because cold fronts will pass through the region, bringing some peaks of cold more often than seen in July”, says Paula Soares, meteorologist at Climatempo, in an interview with CNN. .

The expert explains that the month of July was marked by higher temperatures, due to a mass of dry air blocking the passage of cold fronts coming from the south. “Cold fronts arrived in Rio Grande do Sul and were diverted to the high seas, due to this blockade. As a result, the polar air could not move forward, and there was a lack of rain in the Southeast region,” she says.

At the South after a weekend, the forecast is for slightly higher temperatures before the cold front that arrives on Wednesday.

At the North East the heavy rains recorded in recent days, especially in Pernambuco and Alagoas, should recede, but the coastal region should still register daily rains.

“The cold front that has already passed through the Southeast reaches the south of Bahia this Sunday, causing instability to the region of Porto Seguro”, says the meteorologist. “This other cold front that arrives this week in the Southeast will manage to reach the Northeast as well, where, in general, we continue without rain, but still with rain and very dry air, with risk of fires, in the interior areas that, for now, , will not receive rain”.

O North must have a similar situation to the Northeast, says Paula. “The southern strip, with Acre, southern Amazonas, Pará, Rondônia and Tocantins remains dry, without rain, which should be concentrated on the north coast. Manaus and Belém should still have thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, common in the region, and a greater risk of storms in Amapá and Roraima”.

“Areas further north of the region, Boa Vista and Macapá, should have some storms, but without very closed weather. Sun is expected throughout the week, which should be hot, with temperatures above 30 degrees.”

In the Midwest, the cold fronts that will advance throughout August should influence, mainly, the state of Mato Grosso do Sul and the south of Mato Grosso, even Cuiabá, which had a little chill now, with the passage of the last front cold, according to the expert.

“Now, in the north of Mato Grosso, in the Brasília region, no significant rain for now, the air quality continues to be impaired. Without rain and seeing, there is nothing that disperses pollutants from the atmosphere,” he explains.
