Amidst the negative repercussions, the president of the institute Guilherme Gastaldello and the Minister of Labor José Carlos Oliveira, who is a former president of the INSS, met this Tuesday (6th) with the Minister of the Civil House, Ciro Nogueira.
Still on the morning of this Tuesday (6), after the disclosure in the CNN the risk of a shutdown at the INSS, the Civil House organized an alignment meeting, according to reports from those who participated in the meeting.
In the conversation, the government asked for more time and signaled to the institute that it will be able to balance the transfer of resources. Organ officials report that the change in expectations for this Wednesday only occurred after the negative repercussions.
The institute sent a letter to the Ministry of Economy on Friday (2) in which it warns of “serious damage” to essential INSS services due to recent budget blockages. This situation would have an impact on the closure of branches and the suspension of expertise and assistance of all kinds.
“We had already alerted the president of the INSS and the Minister of Labor to these problems. There are consequences both within the institution and for insured persons. It’s very bad”, says João Torquato, representative of the Consortium of Unions of Social Security workers.
Amid the repercussions, members of the INSS leadership also held conversations with public servants to update the crisis situation. budgetary changes imposed at the end of the year will not cause interruption of INSS services to insured persons.
