The Ibovespa hovered around stability in the first deals on Thursday, amid a battery of corporate results, including the numbers of Itaú Unibanco, and with financial agents also echoing the tight approval of the PEC dos Precatórios in the first round of the Chamber of Deputies.
Around 2:57 pm, the Ibovespa retreated 2.20% to 103,294.29 points. At the same time, the dollar rose 0.37%, to R$ 5.610.
On the eve, the spot dollar closed down 1.45%, at R$ 5.5891.
The result of this Thursday dispels investors’ fears about what the government would do to finance Brazil Aid if the proposal of the PEC dos Precatórios did not pass.
Passing the PEC dos Precatórios was fundamental to enable the adhesion of the new Bolsa Família, as it creates space in the budget that will be allocated to the program.
The federal government had signaled that Auxílio Brasil will be a reality, but the lack of space in the budget worried investors. Now part of this fear has been resolved.
Asia has positive results
The Asian market closed on a high this Thursday (4).
The Nikkei 225, Tokyo stock exchange, closed the day up 0.93%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index was up 0.80%, and the Shanghai stock exchange, in China, 0.81%.
