After the Ministry of Health received virtual attacks on the ConnectSUS system, a platform used by Brazilians to prove vaccination against Covid-19, this Monday (13th), the Rio de Janeiro City Council website was invaded by hackers.
The problem was noticed by employees of the Rio de Janeiro legislature in the early hours of the morning.
With the attack, the homepage of the official website was changed. The hackers kept the institution’s logo, but crossed out the name “City Hall” and replaced it with the English word “Hacked”, used to signal that the page had been attacked.
In the message, they wrote the phrase “Brazil doesn’t have a right-wing, a left-wing party, you’re welcome, there’s a bunch of scoundrels who get together to rob together”.
The City Council confirmed having received the attack and, through a note, commented on the case.
“The website of the City Council of Rio was the target of a hacker attack that affected the homepage of the house’s portal. Neither internal contents nor legislative systems were affected. The Information Technology Department at the house is already working to reestablish the portal and remedy any vulnerabilities,” said the statement.
On Sunday (12), after the attack on ConnectSUS, the Ministry of Health informed that it was able to recover the vaccination data against Covid-19 of all Brazilian citizens and stated that no information was lost with the attack.
Also in a statement, the ministry stated that: “at the moment, the folder is working to re-establish as soon as possible the systems for registration and issuance of vaccination certificates.”
