After the release of the latest GeForce RTX 40 (Ada Lovelace) graphics cards, the GeForce RTX 30 (Ampere) models may remain on sale

The premiere of the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 40 (Ada Lovelace) graphics cards is expected in September, but first it will be top-end and, obviously, the most expensive models. To make its 3D cards available to everyone, the company is considering doing the same thing it did in 2021 – selling two lines of 3D accelerators at the same time: the new one and the previous one. Colette Kress, Nvidia’s chief financial officer, hinted at this.

According to a top manager, the Covid-19 pandemic and problems in the component supply chains gave Nvidia the “opportunity” to sell GeForce RTX 30 and GeForce RTX 20 series graphics cards at the same time. “We’re doing this by offering more and more products to our players, and we’re likely to see this continue,” said Colette Kress.

The company wants graphics cards to be available to all players, and therefore, most likely, we will see the GeForce RTX 40 and GeForce RTX 30 models on store shelves at the same time. In reality, there are far from two lines of Nvidia 3D cards on sale now, because in addition to the GeForce RTX 30 and GeForce RTX 20, the GeForce GTX 10 and GTX 11 models are also sold, and older models can be found in some regions. But it is likely that with the release of the GeForce RTX 40, the situation will change: sales of those same ancient models will stop, and with them the GeForce GTX 10 will finally disappear. All other models, with the exception of the new Ada Lovelace series, will become cheaper.

The question remains whether the entire GeForce RTX 30 line will remain on sale, or by the fall the production of some models will cease. The source says that since the GeForce RTX series starts with top-end graphics cards RTX 4090, RTX 4080 and RTX 4070, the company will definitely continue to sell mid-range and entry-level GeForce RTX 30 – at least RTX 3060 and RTX 3050 will still be sold. But given that the difference in performance between Ada Lovelace and Ampere promises to be significant, Nvidia may leave the GeForce RTX 3070 with the GeForce RTX 3080 in the ranks.
