After tragedy, Bolsonaro announces resources and release of FGTS for workers in PE

President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) announced, this Monday (30), the release of R$ 1 billion in federal resources to assist victims, restore essential services and rebuild structures damaged after the heavy rains that hit Pernambuco. The Chief Executive flew over the cities of Recife and Jaboatão dos Guararapes in the morning.

Through the Ministry of Citizenship, the payment of the Continued Benefit (BPC) will be anticipated, including the extra payment of a portion of the minimum wage.

Caixa will release the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) to workers in the affected areas, in addition to interrupting credit payments by individuals, micro and small companies for up to 3 months.

The government also sent around 500 military personnel from the Armed Forces to help remove rubble, transport people and patients in precarious situations and restore traffic.

The Ministry of Health is strengthening primary care and surveillance, with an increase of up to R$ 3.4 million in resources, depending on the number of municipalities where the calamity is recognized.

So far, 14 cities are in an emergency situation, according to the publication in the Official Gazette (DOU): Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Camaragibe, Goiana, Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Macaparana, Moreno, Nazaré da Mata, Olinda, Paudalho , Paulista, São José da Coroa Grande, São Vicente Férrer and Timbaúba, in addition to the capital Recife.

91 deaths were confirmed as a result of the storms in the state.
