The singer Ariana Grande 31, revealed that, after living Glinda in “Wicked” rethought the focus of his career and intends to exchange pop music for musicals over the next ten years. She stars in the big screen adaptation of the Broadway musical alongside Cynthia Erivo 37, who plays Elphaba .
The affirmation of the voice of “7 rings” and “Dangerous Woman” was made during an interview with the podcast Las Culturistas, presented by Bowen Yang — another actor from “Wicked” — and Matt Rogers.
“I will always make music, I will always go on stage, I will always do pop things, I swear with my fingers. But I don’t think doing this at the same speed as I did in the last 10 years is where I see myself in the next 10 years”, he declared in the episode released on Wednesday (6).
In the conversation, Ariana recalled that she started her career in musical theater and said that “Wicked” rekindled that flame. She did “13: The Musical” before exploding worldwide on the Nicklodeon series Victorius.
“Reconnecting with that part of me that started in musical theater, that loves comedy, and that heals me – finding roles to use those parts of me and putting them into little houses and characters and bits and voices and songs,” he explained. “Whatever makes sense, or whatever roles we think fit, or where I can really do a good job or honor the material, I would love to. I think it’s much better for me. I’m getting emotional.”
The first part of the highly anticipated film adaptation of the Broadway musical “Wicked” arrives in Brazilian cinemas in November 21st .
The plot follows the story of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo nominated for an Oscar for “Harriet “), a young woman who, because she has green skin, is misunderstood and still does not know her true power, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), a popular and ambitious woman who has not yet discovered her true identity.
The two meet at Shiz University, in the Land of Oz, and become friends. However, after an encounter with the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, their paths separate, causing them to become the Good Witch of the South and the Wicked Witch of the West, characters from “The Wizard of Oz”.
