China will “strictly limit” unnecessary travel abroad by Chinese nationals as part of its Covid-19 response, the National Immigration Administration said in a statement Thursday.
Authorities should strictly prevent Cvodi-19 outbreaks caused by illegal entry into China, according to the statement.
The country faces difficulties in its Covid-zero policy, with international criticism and complaints from the population under a strict lockdown imposed in cities such as Shanghai.
The head of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom, said China’s Covid-zero policy is unsustainable, prompting backlash in Beijing.
The Chinese chancellor urged the body to avoid “irresponsible comments” on the measures.
Meanwhile, global companies feel the impact of strict Chinese lockdowns in addition to sanctions imposed on Russia over the war in Ukraine.
