The application of the measure will be available in all cases of arrest registered in the capital, but judges will be able to prioritize cases of domestic violence. This way, if the aggressor approaches the victim again, the police can be immediately called.

According to the government, the measure aims to combat criminal recidivism and also monitor perpetrators of other crimes who are released in custody hearings.

“Criminal recidivism is one of the obstacles to combating violence. Therefore, we call the Judiciary for the discussion, for a joint solution. This goes for several crimes and, in the case of domestic violence, it will be a preponderant factor for us to enforce the protective measure”, said the Secretary of Public Security, Guilherme Derrite.
