Agreement Min. Of Tourism – Visa for the promotion of Greece as a destination for digital nomads for the company executives

Ways to cooperate with Visa in the Digital Nomads program for the company executives, in the context of the Ministry of Tourism strategy for digital nomads, were discussed on the sidelines of the signing of the cooperation agreement for the provision of transaction data between the Ministry of Tourism and Visa.

The prospect of promoting Greece as a telecommuting destination for the company’s executives is particularly important, as it is estimated that Visa can send up to 3% of its staff annually to the country (21,500 people) and in periods and out of summer season, the Ministry of Tourism emphasizes in its announcement today.

The Digital Nomads initiative of the Ministry of Tourism has started as a pilot in the first phase in the cities of Ermoupolis, Heraklion and Kalamata, while similar initiatives have been undertaken by Marketing Greece. It is indicative that Athens in the last five years has the third fastest growth rate in the world, among the most popular destinations for digital nomads, always according to the announcement.

Through the agreement, the Ministry of Tourism ensured the acquisition of valuable data on tourism development in the country. Visa will deliver standalone tables, which will provide a twelve-month comprehensive analysis of tourist spending in Greece, made from foreign Visa cards. The agreement stipulates that the tables will be updated by Visa for another three years, while the company will promote Greece as a destination to its international cardholders and in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism will develop a travel platform website dedicated to this purpose. .

The Minister of Tourism, Vassilis Kikilias, stated in this regard: “As tourism is an important part of the country’s GDP and a leading sector in terms of investment, it is important to formulate a policy based on data. In this regard, we welcome our cooperation with “Visa as it will significantly enhance our capabilities in policy-making for the design of tourism products. These data are a tool that will help us to target our markets more precisely, to identify opportunities and to better organize our strategy for promoting the country.”
