The Syrian presidency announced tonight that an agreement was reached with the leader of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), Maslum Abdi, in order to “incorporate” all the political and military institutions of the autonomous Kurdish administration into the Syrian state. The presidency has released a statement signed by both sides. The agreement concerns “integrating all the political and military institutions of northeastern Syria” within the Syrian state administration. These “institutions” also include border guards, airports, and oil and gas pumping facilities. The main component of the SDFs is the Syrian Kurdish militia.
