The Ministry of Agriculture authorized the forest concession in Gleba Castanho and in the Balata-Tufari National Forest, in the state of Amazonas, where the practice of sustainable forest management and the exploitation of products and services will be authorized.
“Gleba Castanho and the Balata-Tufari National Forest were qualified under the Investment Partnerships Program (PPI) for forestry concession purposes. With the publication (in official diaryyesterday, the 20th), the publication of bidding notices for the two forests is authorized”, said the Ministry in a note.
According to the folder, Gleba Castanho is a Forest Management Unit (FMU), in the municipalities of Careiro, Manaquiri and Beruri, in the state of Amazonas, with approximately 240,000 hectares. The UMFs are located in the municipalities of Careiro and Manaquiri, the area to be concessioned has around 151 thousand hectares.
“With an area of 1.1 million hectares (of which approximately 564 thousand can be used for management), the Balata-Tufari National Forest is located in the interfluve of the Madeira and Purus rivers, close to the municipalities of Humaitá, Tapauá, Lábrea and Canutama, in the State of Amazonas.”
