The escalation of geopolitical tension that culminated in the beginning of the war in Ukraine, last Thursday (24), is already affecting the price of fertilizers used by Brazilian agribusiness.
A survey carried out by the Confederation of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil (CNA) shows that prices increased by 5.8% in just one week.
In dollars, the amount paid for fertilizers derived from urea reached the mark of US$ 642 per ton, in the port of Paranaguá (PR). Before the conflict, the price per ton was US$ 607.
In an interview with CNN, agribusiness specialist Marcos Fava Neves commented on the situation and asked for calm in the assessment of producers in relation to the war. “Many products left the price list. Some have already had an immediate increase.”
“It is a worrying situation. We have to be a little calm at this time so as not to overreact to the fact and follow the evolution of what is happening in this crisis day by day”, she concluded.
