The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) made a long-term projection of Brazilian agribusiness. The estimates, which have technical support from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) and the University of Brasilia (UNB), point to the direction of Brazilian agriculture and livestock until 2031.
With a wide range of themes, one of the highlights is grains. Projections point to a production of 333 million tons in the 2030/31 harvest. This means an increase of 27% compared to the current crop.
The area destined for grain cultivation is also expected to increase, from 68.7 million hectares in 2021 to 80 million in 2031. The growth will be registered mainly in soybean and corn crops. At the other end, the areas of rice and beans should decrease in the long term.
