The first projections point to a harvest of 308 million tons of grains in the 2022/2023 harvest, according to data released by the National Supply Company (Conab).
Candice Santos, agricultural superintendent at Conab, told us more about the expectations for this harvest.
“This represents 14% more than the 21/22 crop. Regarding the area, Conab estimates an increase of 2.5% in relation to the current harvest, which means 73 million hectares.”
For the soybean crop, the total production is estimated at 150 million tons. This is an increase of 21.2% compared to the 21/22 crop, due to the water deficit that affected some areas of the country, mainly the areas of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná. Regarding the area, Conab estimates an increase for this crop of 3.5%, that is, 42.5 million hectares.”
