Brazil will enter 2022 with a series of challenges to reduce emissions of polluting gases and, above all, the record-breaking deforestation this year.
One of the aspects is the investment in seeds that help the producer to have more productivity in the crops without increasing the planted area.
Mário Carvalho, CEO of one of the largest genetic improvement companies in the country, explains this better:
“When we launch a cultivar with shorter, more productive cycles and with the relevant phytosanitary package of resistance to pests and diseases, we are, therefore, reducing the drastic use of water, the use of agricultural defensives and freeing these areas for the second crop that will generate a greater source of revenue for agribusiness”, said Carvalho, from Seedcorp.
“And this resource will once again be reinvested in research, generating a virtuous circle for the environment.”
