The Ministry of Agriculture launched a program to support innovation in agribusiness, the Agro Hub Brazil . According to the ministry, there are more than 1,500 startups linked to agricultural activities and more than 50 innovation environments distributed throughout Brazil.
The general coordinator of articulation for innovation at the Ministry of Agriculture, Daniel Trento, told how Agro Hub Brasil works.
“The Agro Hub Brasil program aims to strengthen and support the country’s agricultural innovation ecosystems. It is to promote an environment that favors interaction, bringing together rural producers, researchers, universities, research institutions, private companies and especially startups”, he explained.
“The idea is that we can, through these environments, promote fundraising, whether public or private. Public resources through public notices, together with development agencies such as BNDES [Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social] and FINEP [Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos].”
“It is already scheduled to launch later this year, at around R$ 10 million each of these public notices. And also private resources, facilitating the environment where private investors can invest resources in agri startups, the agtetchs”, he added.
