The value of coffee beans rose 110% in 2021, according to data released by the Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (ABIC). The trend, according to the association, is for the product to reach the most expensive value in 25 years in 2022.
Among the main factors responsible for the change are the rise in the Dollar, making production more expensive, in addition to the planted area, which had a reduction, and the climatic effects, such as lack of rain and frost, which affected almost 589 thousand tons.
In an interview with CNN, the director of marketing and supply of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock explained that the map has a defense fund for the coffee economy and that the folder must provide more than R$1 billion in credit to finance producers who have had losses.
Of this amount, half has already been requested by banks and cooperatives for use by farmers.
