Shipments of pork, in natura and processed, reached a record in August. The information is in the Inter report on Brazilian agribusiness, which brings the main results of the sector in August and trends for the coming months of 2022.
Brazil shipped nearly 115,000 tonnes of the protein last month, surpassing the 110,000-ton mark recorded in September 2021. The advance is 7.2% per year. In the monitoring of the main grains, proteins and sugar and ethanol, the highlight, according to Inter, was the climatic instability in China, the United States and Europe, which limited the supply of the main agricultural commodities.
In domestic production, corn advanced in August, still within record levels. The price of soybeans in Chicago dropped 7.9%, and the domestic market followed this movement, recording a decrease of 2.5% in the price of the Cepea indicator.
Chicken is in a good situation, with strong external demand and good margins for poultry farmers. Beef exports are also on the rise, despite the decline in the price of live cattle by 3.4% in the last month. Even so, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) released data on the slaughter of cattle for the second quarter, with growth of 3.5% in the year.
The drop in oil and the cuts in fuels by Petrobras lead to a consequent contraction in the price of ethanol.
