Agro Connection: Poultry farmers complain about delay in corn imports

to dThe delay in corn imports on the border between Brazil and Paraguay has worried the animal protein sector. The delay of trucks, dammed in queues in the standard operation of Federal Revenue servers, brings losses to the poultry industry in Paraná and to producers in the southern region of the country.

The president of the union of poultry products industries in the state of Paraná, Irineu da Costa Rodrigues, explained the effect of this situation on agribusiness.

“As we know, Brazil has very low corn stocks, and now we are harvesting excellent crops in the state of Paraná, in the Midwest and also in Paraguay.”

“The cheapest corn for the southern states, which are not self-sufficient, is corn from Paraguay, due to the logistics closest to the consumer center. However, the slowness at the border at customs is creating insecurity for Paraguayan exporters, who will be able to take this corn via Argentina to other countries. So it is necessary to speed up the border so that this corn arrives in Brazil at a lower cost, not increasing the cost of meat and, therefore, not fueling higher inflation”, said the president.
