Brazilian rice exports totaled almost 1.7 million tons with revenues of US$ 516 million between January and October this year, according to data from the Ministry of Economy.
Cereal shipments should reach around 2 million tons by the end of this year, according to projections by the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz).
Abiarroz also reported that, in October alone, foreign rice sales reached 388,000 tons, the highest monthly volume in 2022, with revenues of US$ 122 million. In the same month of last year, revenue from shipments totaled US$ 43 million. The export manager at Abiarroz, Carolina Matos, explained the performance.
“Compared to products from other origins, our rice is translucent, has no smell, is not genetically modified and we have a busy international context for rice. Great food insecurity, with food shortages and high inflation”.
