AGU asks for action on secrecy in pastors’ visits to the Planalto to be extinguished

The Attorney General’s Office (AGU) asked the Supreme Court to dismiss the action that questions the imposition of secrecy by the Jair Bolsonaro government (PL) on data on visits received at the premises of the Presidency. Among them, visits by pastors who are the target of complaints of alleged irregularities in the Ministry of Education.

On June 2, Justice André Mendonça, of the STF, decided that the case would be judged directly in the plenary of the Court and asked the government for information.

According to the AGU’s statement, the access control to the premises of the Presidency of the Republic existing in the GSI database concerning Arilton Moura Correia and Gilmar Silva dos Santos has already been published, and there is no procedural interest in the continuation of the demand.

“Observing the Note of Clarification issued by the GSI on 04/13/2022, it is immediately clear that there was no ‘decree’, but a commonplace, usual measure, based on the interpretation of the GSI about the provisions of the Law 13.709/2018 (General Law for the Protection of Personal Data – LGPD)”, he said.

The action was presented by the PSB. In the request for breach of secrecy, the party maintained that the federal government cannot use an exceptional rule “for strategic electoral or campaign protection”. The caption also argues that any visit received by the president is in the public interest.
