AI will analyze sounds in Yekaterinburg schools and call special forces if necessary

It is quite expected that after the tragic events that took place in schools in Kazan and Perm, the issue of child safety has become especially acute – government agencies are actively developing projects that will prevent such situations. For example, in certain schools they plan to install face scanning systems that will let people into the room, and in the schools of Yekaterinburg, according to the information publication “KP-Yekaterinburg”, they decided to use the capabilities of the neural network. The authors of the project said that special equipment will listen to the events taking place at the school, analyzing the information received and calling a rapid response team if necessary.

“Basically, it’s like a remote panic button. Security guards or educational staff will know the passphrase or word. Certain sounds will also be loaded into the audio system, for example, broken glass, twitching of the shutter, and so on. In the event of any of these events, the signal will be immediately transmitted to the rapid response team, which, having connected to the camera, will see the events taking place and make a decision to leave, ”said Mikhail Ladeyshchikov, Deputy Head of the Department of Education of the city of Yekaterinburg.

Moreover, the process of automating the identification of dangerous events does not end with audio analytics – Ladeyshchikov said that video analytics would also be introduced in the future. For example, this system will “see” events on cameras and determine if they can be dangerous – we are talking about aggressive actions of schoolchildren, fights, recognition of certain objects in the hands of people, or banal smoking on school grounds. Representatives of the department said that such systems are quite expensive, but they are already ready to be launched – in two or three educational institutions, they may appear before the end of this year.
