The 31 -year -old British, who plays Chelsea in the HBO anthological series, told British GQ about all the comments on the subject. Wood said the focus on her teeth made her feel like something “silly” she has not yet “corrected” in herself.
“I am very happy that this is symbolizing rebellion and freedom, but there is a limit. All the conversation is just about my teeth, and that makes me a little sad because I can not talk about my work,” he said.
She added that she couldn’t help wondering if the same level of attention would be given to the appearance of a man actor: “I don’t know if it was a man would be talking about it so much?”
She admitted to feeling insecure and becoming aware of her “strangeness” even before the series was shown while filming her in Thailand.
One moment that stood out was when a producer told him that the creator of the series, Mike White, had fought to climb it.
“Someone told me how much Mike fought for me. They said, ‘It had to be you, no matter what HBO said’”She remembered.
“It was honestly the best of intentions, but my little head thinks, ‘HBO didn’t want me. And I know why HBO didn’t want me, it’s because I’m ugly. Mike had to say,’ Please let me have the ugly girl!”
Again, while filming a scene where her character, Chelsea, runs towards her boyfriend, Rick, on the beach, she remembered a cameraman praising her “strange race.”
“Frank, the cameraman, says: ‘This choice you made with the strange race? This is great'”She remembered.” And I think, ‘Frank, that’s the way I run.’”
