A sergeant from Aeronautics, identified as Alexandre da Costa Piedade, 53, was stabbed to death on Governador Island, North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, on Friday morning (2).
According to information from the Military Police, agents of the 17th BPM were called to help the victim, who was urgently referred to the Galeão Air Force Hospital (HFAG), but could not resist.
At the same time, the PM team received information about a man injured on the Canary Road, appointed as the main suspect in the attack on the sergeant. The man was arrested in the act and taken in custody to the Evandro Freire Municipal Hospital, where he remains hospitalized.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) issued a note deeply lamenting what happened and expressing its sincere condolences to the military’s family. The institution stated that it is closely following the case and actively collaborating with the police authorities for the complete elucidation of the facts.
The case was registered at the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC).
